Is It Ok To Make Mistakes?

My students need a class set of 9x12 dry erase boards.

Mrs. N. John Hay Community Academy
Chicago, IL Grades PreK-2

It is OK to make mistakes and learn from them when students use dry erase boards. I teach second grade in a large urban school district with many low income students. Most students come from families that can not afford school supplies. I supply as much as I can for my kids myself.

The math series that I use in class calls for using dry erase boards. These boards were not included with the math materials. Many lessons have students working with dry erase boards to figure out problems which I have been having them do on paper. This is not only wasting paper, but it is also making some students feel like they cannot make a mistake.

The dry erase boards will help students not only with the math series we are using but will be able to use them in phonics too. A quick erase will help students feel like it is OK to make a mistake and learn from them.

With your help my students can feel more confident in taking risks because they know a mistake can be easily erased with dry erase boards and markers. Thank you for your support and donation.
