Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Pictures tell a thousand words or so my students tell me. I teach fifth grade students in an economically disadvantaged area. Just about all students are on free lunch. This year I would like to increase the joy of science with the use of a classroom camera.

My students have expressed a need for a classroom camera to record their investigations and projects. Students feel that if pictures are taken of their Science Fair experiments, then their posters will look more professional and neat. They also feel that their data will be more accurately displayed if a picture is taken instead of hand drawings. Students would like to include pictures they have taken in their presentations. They have also expressed an interest in taking pictures of specimens during field experiences.

A picture can explain and show the viewer the steps of the experiment. My classroom needs a camera and printer to use during science fair and classroom investigations. This equipment will enable my students to present their investigations, and science fair projects in a neater and more professional manner. The pictures can also be included in their group Power Point presentations during Family Science Night. A camera (and a photo printer) would be a great asset during our outdoor field experiences. Students would be even more engaged.

You will make it possible for my students to stay hooked on science. Your help will enable them to present more professional looking Science Fair exhibits and Power Point presentations.
