Calling all fitness enthusiasts!! Are you up to the kindergarten challenge?? If you are step on up to the plate and keep on reading! You are in store for a workout and will learn at the same time!! We are an active inner-city kindergarten of 30 children. We love to keep in shape and learn at the same time, however, there are many obstacles that we face. We are a high-need community with 100% of our students receiving free-lunch and many receiving free or a reduced-fee after-school program. Are you up to taking our fitness challenge??

One of the obstacles that we face is there is not enough physical fitness in our school or community. Many of our students do not receive enough outdoor activity and this is just where you come in. At the same time that the students are having fun with physical fitness they will be learning all about the alphabet and numbers. We will be able to combine a love of the outside with literacy and numeracy. Unfortunately, there are so many budget cuts, we can not afford to buy any outside equipment for the children to play with and they would benefit greatly from the equipment to encourage learning through play.

The resources our classroom needs are balls, a parachute, activity mats to get moving and a CD to guide us through our activities. The mats would encourage the children to jump, do arm circles, touch their toes and so on. The alphabet activity balls would introduce and reinforce the alphabet to the students while featuring fun activities. A fitness course will benefit students who do not get enough physical activity to partake in skill-building through coordination, balance, gross motor skills at any skill level. Every student no matter what level they are at will be encouraged and motivated to have fun with these activities.

Your help will ensure my students will receive the activity kits that they need. At a time when so many children are challenged to stay fit this is the answer we have been looking for! What better way to stay in shape and learn at the same time. We can work together and provide physical and mental activities for 30 inner-city children on a daily basis. Thank you for your help and consideration.
