Do we know how to teach today competing against the media that engulfs our youth? I teach a 4th grade inclusion classroom. Not only do I face the challenge of special education students and gifted students in the same classroom, but I am teaching low income students and English language learners.

Students need real world, hands on experiences and with the budget given to teachers, we are not able to effectively create these experiences. My students, especially my special education students need hands on activities.

I need hands on activities to engage my students. When students are "doing" they remember it more than just paper pencil tasks. When they are given real world experiences, such as using paper money and coins, they internalize the concept. Writing centers are a more inviting, engaging way to teach writing and the vocab quiz show will not only improve their vocabulary, but also their writing!

Your help will make it possible for all students to learn. With engaging materials I can expand the horizon of my gifted kids and reach my special education students. I will use many of my supplies to teach students real world skills such as counting money and making change.
