Does anyone disagree with the statement "Knowledge is Power"? Of course not! At my school in D.C., the teachers and students are experiencing how powerful knowledge can be every day. As a reading teacher, it is so important to me that I am able to bring my students close to me, and to each other, in order to read, discuss, and analyze books.

Each day, my students are in school from 7:45 am until 5:15 pm. They are working hard to disprove stereo-types, close the achievement gap, and obtain powerful knowledge through reading. Right now, the floor in our classroom is bare! We do not have a place to sit together, either as a class, or in small groups, to share our powerful knowledge of books.

This "Book Worm" rug would truly help to foster a community of readers, who are able to work closely together to enjoy and utilize the power of literature.

Your contribution will ensure that at least 85 underprivileged students of the D.C. community will be empowered to join together as a close community of readers in a comfortable classroom.
