Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach children between the ages of 9-12 who have severe Autism and Developmental Delays. I teach in an inner city school where funding is very limited. The children I work with are very sweet and loving; many are nonverbal and love reading.

My students are mainly nonverbal due to their severe Autism, however they love hearing and an acting out stories. Working in an inner city school, many of children come from homes that do not read to them or have many books to provide. Therefore, it is when they come to school that they are able to learn to love reading and books.

The children adore story time in the morning. These reading kits would be a blessing to their learning. Not only would they enjoy reading 100 times more, they would better comprehend a story.

If by any chance, you could donate to this cause, you would be making a huge difference in the lives of children with severe Autism and Developmental Delays.
