This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a 9th grade Marine Science teacher at George Westinghouse H.S. It would really be fascinating to teach my students about inner space with actual hands on materials and real specimens. It's already hard to teach them science so I figured if we had real crabs or starfish, jellyfish or anything that is related to the topic for the students to look at instead of just looking in the textbooks it would make them more excited about learning. I'm tired of teaching theory one day and having students forget it the next. I want them to get interested and set goals to understanding more about inner-space. If we had mounted specimen and aquariums in the class set up like a real lab, I believe students will look at science in general in a different light. Some believe that science and technology is the wave of the future. Imagine having a computer in the class to incorporate both of these subjects. I have two marine science courses totaling 45 students, anything that is related to Earth's waters and the organisms that live in them would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
