Team Overview
The Partnerships & Business Development (PBD) team designs innovative philanthropic partnerships with corporations and foundations. This team is responsible for generating $24 million in classroom project funding, often through award-winning cause marketing campaigns with partners such as HP, Bing, Sonic Drive-In, Crate & Barrel, Groupon and American Express.
Position Overview:
The Development Assistant will support the development efforts of a 4-person team and report to the Vice President for the PBD Team, East. Core responsibilities are as follows:
Partnership Administration & Project Management:
· Administer our managed giving programs for corporate and foundation funders including – Project Funding, Double Your Impact, Almost Home, Gift Cards, Employee Giving
· Create and maintain partnership records in our customer relations database, Salesforce.com, including contact and relationship records and logging of ongoing email, call and meeting notes
· Research existing donors and notes to ensure maximum giving potential of each funder
· Provide general support to the PBD team including mailing invitations, copying and assembling meeting materials, ordering office supplies, maintaining marketing materials
· Perform data analyses of current partnerships
· Research corporate and foundation donors giving less than $100K to ascertain additional giving capacity
Grants Management & Reporting:
· Spend out grant funds
· Assemble classroom thank you packages for donors
· Write and assemble compelling emails, proposals, and grants for foundations and corporations
· Analyze and present data for grants, media requests, board meetings
Position Qualifications

· A college graduate with up to two years of work experience (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required)
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, results driven and motivated by project management
· A fast learner who enjoys detail-oriented work to ensure team goals are met
· Able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
· A strong verbal and written communicator
· A problem-solver with a customer-service orientation and strong analytical skills
· Comfortable with tasks relating to administration and office management
· Adept with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and willing to learn new software programs
· Experience with Salesforce a plus, but not required
· Excited to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment with aggressive growth plans

Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time, temporary position with a time commitment of 20-30 hours/week (schedule is flexible). Compensation is $14 per hour. The position is for an immediate start and is based in DonorsChoose.org’s national office in midtown Manhattan.
