My Students

Many of my students have suffered brain trauma as a result of injury or illness. All of my students are hospitalized for rehabilitation. A progressive interactive math and language based library will help all the children relearn basic skills in order to interact with their peers and families.

My students range in age from 4-21 years.

They are currently hospitalized as a result of brain Injury, cancer, surgical interventions, stroke and accidents. My students are a wonderful group of children who want to learn but have many obstacles in their way. They often have limited frame of reference. I am trying to make the experience of “School” as enjoyable as possible. Many of my students have long and short term memory delays. The children are hospitalized for rehabilitation. My students are warriors. Each day is a struggle. Relearning daily life skills as well as gross and fine motor skills is often painful and exhausting. My students want to return to their families, friends and schools much like they were prior to their hospitalization. My classroom is located in a NYC hospital. Some students receive school services bedside until they are able to ambulate or be moved to the classroom. My school is a blessing to all students and parents. I will always go above and beyond.

My Project

Providing double sets of books allows students to practice with partners. By practicing with their peers and teacher in a fun environment students will be able to find their voices once again. Learning will be presented in an interactive game friendly format with a computer programming foundation. Computer programs will be used to reinforce new skills. Joke books have been included in the library in order to reintroduce some laughter into their difficult lives while addressing reading and fluency delays. I am determined to make a significant impact in the lives of every student I teach. The back to basics approach with flash cards and phonics is a valid technique to build sight and vocabulary words. Students will use interactive computer programming for Math and Science. My students are more than capable of learning and achieving great levels of success, the only problem is that they themselves don't realize it yet. I will go to any lengths to help them achieve success.

The only true chance at equality is through education. I am a more than capable teacher and I know I am blessed to be able to work with the neediest of students. I am willing to go above and beyond for my students every day in order to continue to deliver the highest quality education.
