Paper & Such To Our 2nd Grade Presentation Rescue!!!
My students are need of paper supplies such as envelopes, post-its, printer paper, colored copy paper and presentation materials such as a presentation pointer.
For most of my students, school is a safe haven that provides a lot more than education. It is their home away from home, where they learn, work, laugh, cry, write, calculate, interpret and grow up!
My students are an amazing group of economically disadvantaged 2nd grade students.
With this population, these students are unfortunately at-risk to high crime, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, poor health, poor fitness and poor nutrition, patiently waiting for them outside of the school gates. Building knowledge of healthy social, emotional behaviors and resiliency strengthens student assets and increase coping skills.
I attempt to expose them to as much as I can in the time that I am with them. In many cases, this exposure is not limited to curriculum. I am also a model and teacher of many life skills that students need to acquire in order to be successful in and outside of the classroom.
My Project
Unfortunately, the majority of my students come from homes of chaos and disorganization with very little if any rules and or routines. The children want to be better, but they sometimes start out behind, and their possibilities of catching up seem dismal to most. Well not to me! I attempt to expose them to much as I can in the small amount of time I am with them. Often times, my life skills aren't tied to the curriculum. I am also a model and teacher of many life skills that students need to acquire in order to be successful in and outside of the classroom such as "Public Speaking." When a child accesses his/her environment, it should be organized and filled with resources they need to assist them with everyday learning in their learning environment. Having access to paper products such as printer paper, envelopes, post-its, and a presentation pointer will assist my students with creating their presentations and having the proper resources to bring their presentations to life!
Please help me to give them the environment that they so desperately need.
Having the proper presentation materials to prepare my students to become comfortable presenters and excellent public speakers in front of their peers is unmeasurable to them and to me as their teacher.
