Inspiring Learners through Technology, Science, and Math

My students need 3 mini iPads, math manipulatives, and a graphing calculator, and 2 fit bits to use for our science and math integration.

My Students

Every morning I start off teaching math and science to about 25 to 30 kids. Then mid day we switch and I teach another group of students math and science. Our students love learning math, science, and health. However, their health is not always the best.

Our school is a Title I school with the highest level of poverty for our district.

Our students come from various backgrounds but mostly struggle with unstable homes. They have poor eating habits and do not exercise regularly. Usually are unable to complete homework at home and homework club is provided to them at school. They work really hard and they strive to excel or exceed our expectations academically.

My Project

Our students will use the fit bits to track their progress. I envision trading it off with students. Then I want them to track their progress using the iPads and the graphing calculator. We will embed the math manipulative into our daily math and science instruction. I am hoping we can inspire these children to start now in making a difference in their health.

Donations to this classroom project will help kids learn how to stay fit, work together on fitness, how important math and science are to their lives, and how to use technology daily.

It will hopefully have a long lasting impact upon their lives.
