Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn.”- Unknown.

I teach at a school that has an exceptional and diverse group of students.

Our school services gifted, regular, and special education students. I teach one of the general education classes. My students are the most amazing little people. They are independent, creative, caring, inquisitive, and fun-loving. A typical day in my classroom is filled with love, curiosity, and lots of learning. We usually begin the day with reading and writing. During this time, you will find my students reading complex text. You may hear them discussing the theme of the text, characters, or author. My students write personal narratives that will bring you to tears, realistic fiction that will make you laugh, and informational pieces that are so interesting. The afternoon usually consists of a math lesson, and a social studies or science lesson. Students also engage in extra curricular activities, such as chess, dance, computers, social emotional literacy, art, music, or P.E.

My Project

First, I am asking for a rug because we use the rug for almost every whole group activity. It mostly serves as a meeting area. My students love to sit on the rug when reading their independent books and working with their partners. Unfortunately the rug in my classroom needs to be replaced, but funds are very limited at my school. Next, I am also asking for ink cartridges for my printer because during the school year, my students write lots of stories. They love to write fiction and nonfiction stories. The students get super excited about publishing their stories. The ink would allow my students to print their books and share it with others during our publishing parties. In addition, I am also asking for a teaching table so that I can work with a small group of students at a time. By receiving the teaching table I would be able to meet separately to teach a small group during guided reading and math. I am also asking for the other materials that will enhance and motivate learning.

I want every student to feel successful everyday.

I want them to feel that their hard work paid off and that they can do anything that they put their minds to. My biggest challenge is making sure I level their playing field and ensure all of them have a chance. I want my students to feel that they were given the best because that’s what they deserve! Donations to my project will help me achieve this goal!!!
