I'm a professional artist and art instructor teaching at The Josiah Quincy Elementary School in Boston, MA. I teach art and art history to approximately 250 students in both the fourth and fifth grades. My students are inner city youth, coming from extremely diverse communities and cultural backgrounds. Most of my students are low income and receive free or reduced lunch. My students love art, but we often have a difficult time finding the funds to cover the high cost of materials. We've become very creative with re-purposing everyday items such as newspapers, paper bags, cardboard food trays, pebbles, scrap tiles, etc. to use in our art projects. This site has been established to allow my students the opportunity to expand their learning by working on more complex art projects and with more diverse and higher quality materials. My students and I thank you for taking the time to visit our site!
