“During my internship at DonorsChoose.org, I experienced the rare combination of learning practical new skills, conducting meaningful work, and having a blast!” – Clare, Harvard University
The Program
The mission of our internship program is to provide college students with exposure to and work experience in the nonprofit sector. Because DonorsChoose.org is still a relatively new organization, interns have the unique opportunity to contribute to its growth and scalability.
Check out some blog posts where interns describe their experiences in their own words:

As part of Goldman Sachs’ Community TeamWorks initiative, ten Goldman Sachs employees spent an exciting afternoon volunteering their time at DonorsChoose.org’s new NYC headquarters where they were able to visit and ask questions of our CEO Charles Best and our CTO Oliver Hurst-Hiller.
Goldman Sachs is a leading global financial services firm providing investment banking, securities and investment management services to a wide array of clients across the globe. They’re also committed to volunteering in communities where they work and live through unique partnerships with nonprofit organizations. In fact, through Community TeamWorks, the office of corporate engagement at Goldman gives ALL employees one day off each year to volunteer in team-based projects coordinated with local and international nonprofit organizations.
Employees from the Goldman Sachs New York City and Jersey City offices toured the DonorsChoose.org office and then volunteered their time to process classroom thank-you packages from teachers across the country. They even set an all-time record: processing more thank-you packages than any other corporate volunteer group! They have superpowers, we think.

Huge thanks to our friends at Reprise Media for volunteering their time in our NY office yesterday! They’re leaders in the search marketing field, helping the world’s largest brands increase their revenue and site traffic.
They worked vigorously yesterday, helping us screen and process thank you packages from classrooms while jamming out to a mix CD created just for our volunteers!
Thanks, Reprise Media, for your time and great energy! Come back and visit anytime.
If your company might be interested in volunteering at our NYC office, and enjoying that sweet mix-CD, email Dan: dan (at) DonorsChoose (dot) org. (Appreciation for / ability-to-tolerate Lady Gaga strongly recommended.)
The team worked enthusiastically screening and processing classroom feedback and even processed their own Dice Holdings thank you package from support given to math and science classrooms in Washington DC, New York City, San Francisco and Chicago this fall.
Thank you Dice Holdings for your time and for your great energy!

Phillips Academy alumni and parents sure know how to volunteer! As part of Andover’s Non-Sibi Day, alumni and parents spent an exciting Saturday morning volunteering their time at DonorsChoose.org’s NYC headquarters.
Non -Sibi Day is celebrated every year by the school in celebration of a day that is “not for self.” Alumni, parents, and friends join a project and volunteer to help others. This year we were excited to learn that a New York City group chose to help process thank you packages at DonorsChoose.org.
When asked what the highlight of the day was, Andover volunteers responded- here are some of their thoughts:
- Reading the letters from students and hearing about DonorsChoose; it was great to learn about the mission, see the office and read letters from students across the country.
- When one of the volunteers read something like “we don’t have a pencil sharpener in school” made me realize how badly some schools are in need of supplies.
- Meeting some great alumni and current parents and introducing people to this great organization!
- The hysterical letters.
- I had no idea what to expect coming to DonorsChoose but the atmosphere couldn’t have been more welcoming. It was great to read all of these letters from students thanking their donors – the comments were priceless – I am so glad I participated!
THANK YOU Non-Sibi Day participants for your time and energy!

Yahoo! recently sent a group of employees from its sales department to help out the DonorsChoose.org team in New York. The Yahoo! crew was amazing in putting together feedback packages and really got into the process, reading letters to each other and sharing especially cute or funny thank you notes from students. The volunteers were so involved that they kept on working even after the pizza arrived, although they were still able to enjoy the 80’s music that was playing at DonorsChoose.org that day!
THANK YOU Yahoo! for your time and energy! It was much appreciated!
