Exciting news! This year, starting September 15th, all eligible hands-on environmental projects submitted by 3rd-8th grade teachers committed to participating in Disney’s Planet Challenge will be fully-funded!
Teachers who submit a hands-on project request for up to $500 in materials focused on benefiting the environment (water conservation and watershed protection, recycling, composting, restoring/creating community gardens, etc.) are eligible to receive full funding if they complete three steps of registration on the Disney Planet Challenge website.
To qualify, teachers must visit http://disney.go.com/planetchallenge/ anytime after September 15th and sign up for Disney’s Planet Challenge, using the same email address you use for your DonorsChoose.org account. Complete the following three steps on the Disney Planet Challenge website:
- Register on the site
- Fill out your teacher profile
- Add a team!
Projects will be funded until $50,000 has been spent on classroom projects. Disney’s Planet Challenge is partnering with DonorsChoose.org for the third year in a row to support classroom projects aimed at helping the environment. Disney’s Planet Challenge is a fun, free and highly-acclaimed project-based environmental competition for 3rd-8th grade classrooms across the US, and to date they have funded over $650,000 in classroom projects focused on the environment!
Here’s how to qualify for this funding:
- Log in to your teacher account on DonorsChoose.org. (If you’re new to DonorsChoose.org, create an account at www.donorschoose.org/teachers).
- Submit a hands-on project request for up to $500 in materials focused on benefiting the environment (water conservation and watershed protection, recycling, composting, restoring/creating community gardens, etc.)
- Then, visit http://disney.go.com/planetchallenge/ anytime after September 15th and sign up for Disney’s Planet Challenge, using the same email address you use for your DonorsChoose.org account. Complete the following three steps on the Disney Planet Challenge website: 1) Register on the site, 2) Fill out your teacher profile, 3) Add a team!
- Finally, commit to completing your Disney Planet Challenge project! You will receive full funding for your DonorsChoose.org project within one week of completing the three steps above, and you’ll have until February 2012 to implement your project and complete the steps on Disney’s Planet Challenge.
Make sure to submit your request as soon as possible for the best chance of funding. Projects will be funded until the available $50,000 is spent.

Hi, I just completed the registration, profile page, and added a team. I also submitted a project. How will DonorsChoose know that my project is for the Disney’s Planet Challenge?
Thank you so much!

How does the funding for the Disney Challenge grant work if your teacher is already signed up in the Donors Choose program? How do we differentiate existing programs from the Disney Challenge?

My project is up and I did the required info on the Disney sight. How will they connect the 2 and do they all get funded or how will we know if they run out of funding? http://www.donorschoose.org/btinseth Cutting down on Waste

Has anyone received feedback about the process? I have registered for the challenge and posted a project: Fifth Graders Fighting for the Environment. Is there a linking step? My students are ready to begin experimenting and helping our local area/wildlife – any information would be appreciated!
