Since November 2008, Build-A-Bear Workshop has partnered with DonorsChoose.org to distribute $10 DonorsChoose.org GivingCards to Build-A-Bear Workshop Guests across the country. Customers receive the GivingCard when they purchase a $10 game card for buildabearville.com, an interactive web-based community that allows kids of all ages to interact and play online.
The buildabearville.com game cards (see below) can be redeemed for Bear Bills® virtual currency in Build-A-Bearville™ to buy cool virtual stuff such as clothing and furniture for players’ online characters. You can purchase them at any Build-A-Bear Workshop store, at www.buildabear.com, or at participating HEB and Winn-Dixie stores.
Customers who receive a GivingCard are able to redeem them in a special place in Build-A-Bearville, so they can literally make their donation while playing online. As can be seen in the image below, buildabearville.com even features DonorsChoose.org prominently in its Town Square with a link for Guests to redeem their card.
So far, more than 35,000 GivingCards have been sold to Build-A-Bear Workshop Guests, supporting over 3,400 different classrooms across the country! We are thrilled to have their partnership in this innovative GivingCard campaign.
