I can sum up my students in one word: remarkable. I am constantly in awe of their thirst for knowledge. In the same breath, I can also say that the way they learn is, in a way, different than what most adults are used to. They need to be constantly challenged, both with the material and with the way that they acquire the knowledge. Students can no longer learn by having an adult spoon feed them the material. They need to be presented with questions, and given the support to find the answers. At the same time, they need the materials to make that quest possible. That is why having one to one technology in my classroom is crucial. It will give my students the ability to explore topics in a variety of ways. In addition, they will be able to collaborate with each other in order to make meaning from the information that they have discovered. Like I said, their thirst for knowledge is there. I just need to quench that thirst. And with this technology, I will be able to do just that.
