Autism is a simple sounding label that somehow hides all the complexities, human beauty, tenacity, and humor that my students portray. Every day I experience the tremendous effort my students make to learn and become more independent. That moment when I see a child finally "get it" is so exciting as a teacher. I can see the pride and joy on their faces when they know they have finally accomplished something they've been working steadily towards. My students' learning differences require them to invest much more in their efforts to learn than would a typically developing peer. Whenever I reflect on my day, I know my kids are the coolest kids in the world.
